Calibrate is a developmental mirror for coaches and the mentor coaches who guide them. You upload a coaching session — audio or transcript — and it returns a structured, evidence-based analysis of the session against the ICF Core Competencies, to support preparation, reflection and mentoring. It is never an official assessment.

No. Calibrate is a formative and developmental tool. Its output does not constitute an official ICF credential assessment, does not replace an ICF Performance Evaluation, and carries no weight in any official credentialing process.

No. Instead of pass/fail, Calibrate expresses a three-state readiness — at standard / approaching / not yet — in the language of a mentor. It is developmental guidance, never a verdict.

Two modes. Transcript — paste text, or upload a .txt or .docx file. Audio — .mp3, .mp4, .m4a or .wav; the session is transcribed and its paralinguistic elements (pauses, pace, silence) are analysed.

All three — ACC, PCC and MCC — each with its own marker set and official rating scale.

A full report has eight sections: an executive summary, a marker snapshot, a per-competency evaluation with verbatim evidence, role-drift detection, an overall readiness read, a verbatim evidence gallery, a mentor-coaching upgrade plan, and a pocket-card summary. A shorter summary report has four.

Reports can be generated in English, Italian or German.

It works from the official ICF Minimum Skills Requirements and the published marker and BARS resource guides for each level. For every competency it identifies verbatim evidence, weighs strengths against missed opportunities, and rates each marker on the official ICF scale — with the reasoning and the evidence shown, not hidden.

Yes. Like any AI, it can miss nuance or misread context — which is exactly why it is built as a support tool, never a determination. Every report is developmental, and the professional judgment stays with the human coach and mentor. See our ICF AI-guidelines alignment.

Two levels. First, its lead architect — an ICF MCC assessor and trainer. Second, an independent panel of five ICF MCC credentialed coaches, being established to recalibrate the system on a semi-annual basis against real coaching sessions. More on our AI standards page.

No. Calibrate supports learning, preparation and reflection; the evaluation of competency, the mentoring conversation, and the professional judgment remain human. That is the core of ICF's guidance and of how Calibrate is built.

No. It generates the ICF Session Observation and Competency Review forms only as editable drafts, with identity and attestation fields left blank. The mentor coach reviews, completes and signs them.

Before either ICF form can be exported, the mentor must tick a mandatory attestation confirming they have reviewed the draft, applied their own independent judgment, and adopt it as their own. Nothing is filed automatically.

Account data (email, role), the session transcript or audio you submit, the AI-generated reports, and — for paid plans — billing data. Full detail in the Privacy Policy.

Session content is processed by two sub-processors via their commercial APIs: Anthropic (Claude) for text analysis and report generation, and Google (Gemini) for audio transcription. A Data Processing Agreement is in place with each. See the Privacy Policy.

No. Both providers are used via their commercial / paid APIs under binding no-training terms — your content is never used to train their models. Nor do we train any model of our own on your data.

Calibrate does not store the original transcript or audio beyond the AI processing call; only the generated reports are kept in your account, and are deleted when you delete them. Providers may retain content only briefly under their own terms — Anthropic up to 30 days for abuse-monitoring, never for training.

Not currently. Neither the ICF guidelines nor the GDPR require zero retention — they require anonymised, consented processing on secured platforms that do not train on your content, which Calibrate provides. ZDR is a stricter, enterprise-grade arrangement offered by our providers; we can pursue it for clients whose contracts specifically require it.

The coach uploading the session. Calibrate requires a consent attestation on every upload and provides consent wording aligned with the GDPR; the legal relationship is between the coach and their client.

No. Calibrate operates as a limited-risk system: it does not infer emotions as an outcome, categorise people by sensitive attributes, perform social scoring, or make employment or credentialing decisions. Its Terms restrict uses that would move it into high-risk territory. More on our AI standards page.

It self-certifies as a Data Processing application under the ICF AI Coaching Framework and Standards — the lower-risk category — and publishes its conformance on the AI standards page. (This is a separate ICF document from the mentor-coaching guidance above.)

Anthropic's Claude (Sonnet) for text analysis and report generation, and Google's Gemini for audio transcription and paralinguistic analysis — both via secured commercial APIs, with keys held server-side.

No. Calibrate's output is developmental, not determinative. Any pass/fail or credentialing decision must be made by a qualified human assessor — a restriction that is both contractual and stated in every report.

No. It is not designed for, and is contractually restricted from, use in hiring, firing, promotion, performance evaluation, or any decision affecting a person's employment or career progression.

No. Calibrate aligns itself with ICF's published competencies and guidance and says so openly, but it is not endorsed, certified, or affiliated with ICF. See our Ethical commitment.
